Residents of Qarabagh district in Ghazni province have started building a 31-kilometer road at their own expense after facing years of challenges due to the lack of proper roads.
According to local residents, the project is expected to cost around 15 million Afghanis and will help ease transportation for people in several districts, as well as some areas of Uruzgan province.
They say the entire cost is being covered through contributions from local residents and support from a community charity fund.
Local residents say that once completed, the road will reduce transportation problems for people in Qarabagh, Jaghori, Malistan, and Ajristan districts of Ghazni, as well as some areas of Uruzgan.
Meanwhile, some residents are calling on the Taliban to address their problems in a fundamental way and support the project.
According to local residents, over the past four years they have implemented dozens of public-benefit projects with millions of Afghanis in personal funding and community support, including school buildings, water reservoirs, bridges, and retaining walls.
