Afghan Independent Journalists’ Association: An Afghan local journalist killed by Pakistani forces

The Afghan Independent Journalists’ Association (AIJU) has strongly condemned the deliberate attack by Pakistani forces on reporters from Paktia National Television.

According to a statement released by the association, two journalists from the network Abdul Ghafour Abid and Tawab Arman came under both air and ground attacks by Pakistani forces while covering clashes along the Durand Line.

As a result, Abdul Ghafour Abid was killed and Tawab Arman was injured.

The statement said the journalists were in the area to report on the situation of local residents but were deliberately targeted.

The AIJU called the attack a blatant violation of journalistic principles and freedom of expression, saying the goal of such assaults is to silence the voice of truth and conceal the realities on the ground.

It also urged international organizations defending freedom of speech and journalist safety to seriously investigate the incident and take immediate measures to ensure the security of journalists in Afghanistan.
