Rashid Kashifi, a journalist based in Kabul, has been held in Taliban intelligence custody for the past five days.
Sources to Future Afghanistan, say that on Saturday, April 12, Kashifi was summoned by Taliban intelligence under the pretext of retrieving his equipment, but he was arrested upon arrival.
Earlier, on the 15th day of Ramadan, the Taliban had confiscated his journalism-related equipment.

The Taliban intelligence agency has not provided any details regarding the reason for his arrest or his current condition.
Kashifi’s family and colleagues have expressed deep concern over the lack of information about his fate in Taliban custody.
Meanwhile, media support organizations have called for clarity regarding his situation and demanded his immediate release.

Over the past three years, the Taliban have detained, tortured, and threatened hundreds of journalists across Kabul and other provinces—many of them accused of collaborating with media outlets in exile.
