The expansion of economic, trade, and investment cooperation in Afghanistan was the focus of discussions between Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs of the Taliban, and Oleg Korobchenko, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Trade of Tatarstan, along with his accompanying delegation.

During the meeting, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar emphasized that Tatarstan can take advantage of Afghanistan’s investment opportunities, including participating in projects such as the water transfer initiative from the Panjshir River to Kabul.

Hamdullah Fitrat, Deputy Spokesman of the Taliban, said: “Mr. Korobchenko said that his country is committed to providing educational opportunities in the oil and gas sector and is ready to work with Afghan traders to foster economic growth.”

Experts believe that the Taliban economy-focused foreign policy has encouraged many countries to pursue stronger political and economic relations with Afghanistan.

This comes as Kabul has hosted officials from various countries in recent weeks, with most emphasizing the importance of strengthening ties, particularly in the economic sector, with Afghanistan.
